Hi there!

Weight loss is a journey many of us are familiar with, and it's neither magical nor complicated, most of the time. We often find ourselves knowing what we need to do, yet struggling to achieve our weight loss goals. Why can't we execute? What makes this process so challenging?

One of the tricky aspects of weight loss is its duration. Even if you only want to lose ten pounds, it's a lengthy process. It takes some time to figure out what works best for you, and then you need to continue doing it for several weeks, even months.

You start committed and focused on your goal. Initially, it's going well; you make some progress, and you feel good about it. Then something comes up. Life happens, as it always does. And weight loss shifts down on the hierarchy of your priorities. Something else becomes more critical and takes your attention and focus away. Of course, you know that you are no longer eating the way that's helpful for weight loss, but you apply one of the strategies:

  • You talk yourself out of it or permit yourself to abandon: "If I can't do it right, I'm not even going to try," "I deserve a break," "Life is hard, I need a treat."
  • You give yourself a hard time and feel demotivated to continue: "I failed yet again," "I'll never lose weight," "I don't know if I even want it."
  • You avoid thinking about it altogether or justify your actions: 'It's not the right time,' 'I'll get back to it later,' or 'It's no big deal, just this one time.'

The longer you wait to resume your weight loss program, the more difficult it becomes to get back on track.

That's why having an accountability partner is so crucial for success. However, not everyone can fit the role. What you are looking for is:

  • You want someone you trust and can be open and honest with.
  • A person who is willing to listen and will ask the right questions respectfully.
  • Someone empathic and yet focused on finding a path forward rather than just validating your choices and commiserating with your inner critic.
  • They motivate you to jump back on the wagon and keep going.

If you don't know anyone who can serve as your accountability partner, I'm happy to offer you my support. You can book a free 15-minute call with me to see if I'm the right partner for you. Of course, my knowledge of nutrition is an added benefit.

I'll be in touch in two weeks, take care!

Olga
